The Pipe Band was formed during the Second World War by the local Homeguard, becoming affiliated to Thornhill Royal British Legion in 1946.
In 1983 they amicably split from the British Legion, and with the permission of his Grace, The Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry, changed their name to The Buccleuch and Queensberry Caledonia Pipe Band.
Since first forming, the band has been under the leadership of only 5 Pipe Majors, the previous being in office for 45 years with 55 years service to the Band.
